Cloak and Dagger sketch – inking this one up was good fun and allowed me to be a lot grungier with my style than my norm – although it took me days to get all the ink off my fingers. I’ve always liked these characters since way back when they were introduced in the Spider-Man books. Although they have had a few series of their own over the years, they have all been pretty short-lived, most recently they have been a part of the X-men books.
A Marvel heroes poster digitally coloured with photoshop directly over the pencil work. No remit on the characters – i decided most of them as i went along, placing some smaller characters in the front rows followed by larger behind them and then the ‘flying’ contingent in the ‘back row’ in order to cram as many characters in at a decent size while still trying to retain the correct relational proportions and perspective. A fun illustration to do but very time consuming to colour over pencil line-work with that much detail going on.
The Black Cat card is part of a 12 set series that were given away free with the first three issues of marvel UK’s Exploits of Spider-Man series. You can view some more of the cards in the illustration gallery.
