This zombie illustration was done as an experiment with Poser textures (its an old version that i have as i don’t really use it much these days – i should really upgrade at some point, sure it’s moved on leaps and bounds). I made the blue blood spattered skin textures in photoshop, including transparencies to show ripped and missing flesh with some bones showing through. All rendering and lighting was then done in poser – could tweak all day in photoshop, but decided to leave it as the raw poser image.
I think this was possibly my first fully digital attempt at a comic illustration from a few years ago – not a pen or pencil or even layout doodle in site. The Silver Surfer figure was created in Poser (ver 4 or 5 i think) and dropped into photoshop to be painted up along with a spacey background. I would probably change most of the techniques i used on this now – at the time i was busy just concentrating on experimenting with different digital techniques rather than the composition and overall image, but it served it’s purpose at the time and i learnt what i needed to from it.
SlayHunter was one of the comic strips from the NuComix Anthology published by Simon Bowland. I did a few fill-in issues throughout the run and created this 3D version of the character in poser. Most of the lighting was done in photoshop after the initial poser render.
A digital illustration created to use as part of a CD-Rom multimedia project. The image was created using both Poser and Photoshop. You can view more illustration work in my illustration portfolio
